Terms and conditions of use

1. Purpose and acceptance

1.1 These Terms and Conditions of Use (hereinafter, the “Terms”) govern access to and use of the Tradilex platform (hereinafter, the “Platform”), as well as the rights and obligations of the owner and users.

1.2 Registering an account and using the Platform’s features implies full acceptance of these Terms in the version in force at any given time. Users who do not agree with these Terms must refrain from registering for or using the Platform.

1.3 These Terms are supplemented by the Legal Notice, Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which are accessible from the website.

2. Platform owner

2.1 The Platform is owned by the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), Tax Identification Number (NIF) Q2818016D, with registered address at Calle Bravo Murillo, 38, 28015 Madrid, through its TRADIT Research Group. Full identification details are provided in the Legal Notice.

3. Definitions

For the purposes of these Terms:

  • User: any person who accesses or registers on the Platform.
  • Students and teaching staff: users registered under the respective separate account types.
  • Classroom: a space created by a teacher to which students link their accounts using a code.
  • Class code: a code provided by the teacher to link students’ accounts to their classroom.
  • User-generated content: subtitles, voice recordings and other content generated by users when completing exercises.
  • Teaching resources: lesson plans and materials published by the owner on the Platform.

4. Nature of the service and free access

4.1 Tradilex is an educational platform for Didactic Audiovisual Translation (DAT), developed for academic and research purposes within the framework of project PID2019-107362GA-I00, with public funding from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and the State Research Agency (MCIN/AEI).

4.2 Access to and use of the Platform and its resources are free of charge. The Platform has no commercial purpose.

4.3 The service may be in a pilot or development phase; its features may vary, which the user acknowledges and accepts.

5. Registration and user accounts

5.1 Use of restricted features requires the registration of an account, with separate account types for students and teaching staff.

5.2 Users must provide truthful, accurate and up-to-date information and are responsible for safeguarding and maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and for any activity carried out using them. Users must notify the owner of any unauthorised use.

5.3 Users must be at least eighteen years of age to register independently.

5.4 Each user is responsible for every account they create and may not transfer it or allow third parties to use it.

6. Classrooms, class codes and teachers’ responsibilities

6.1 Teaching staff may create classrooms and generate class codes so that students can link their accounts to them. Teachers use this feature for educational purposes and under their own responsibility.

6.2 Teachers undertake to inform their students about the use of the Platform and not to share the class code outside the intended educational context.

6.3 The teacher is responsible for the classrooms they create, the students they invite, and their use of the monitoring and feedback features.

7. Rules for acceptable use

7.1 Users undertake to use the Platform in accordance with the law, these Terms, good faith and public order. In particular, users shall refrain from:

  • a) accessing or using the Platform for unlawful purposes or for purposes that infringe the rights of third parties;
  • b) entering or disseminating content that is insulting, defamatory, discriminatory, violent or contrary to human dignity;
  • c) impersonating third parties or infringing their privacy or personal data rights;
  • d) introducing viruses or other elements that may damage the systems of the owner or third parties, or interfere with the operation of the Platform;
  • e) accessing restricted areas or other users’ accounts without authorisation;
  • f) extracting, reproducing or exploiting the content or resources of the Platform beyond the authorised uses.

7.2 Failure to comply with these rules may result in the measures set out in Clause 11.

8. User content and user-generated content

8.1 Users retain ownership of the rights to their own content (subtitles, voice recordings and other materials).

8.2 By storing or publishing their content on the Platform, users grant the owner a free-of-charge, non-exclusive and revocable licence, limited to hosting, reproducing and communicating such content to the extent necessary to provide the educational service and assess the exercise. Any use beyond this purpose—in particular, for scientific research or dissemination purposes—requires the user’s prior, specific and informed consent, in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

8.3 Users warrant that they hold the necessary rights to the content they provide and that such content does not infringe the rights of third parties or the law. Where users make use of third-party works in exercises, they shall do so within the applicable legal limits and for educational purposes.

8.4 The processing of personal data contained in user-generated content, including voice recordings, is governed by the Privacy Policy.

9. Intellectual property of the owner and teaching resources

9.1 The distinctive signs, design, structure and code of the Platform are owned by the owner or by third parties who have authorised their use and are protected by intellectual and industrial property legislation.

9.2 The teaching resources published by the owner are made available for educational use. Where they are distributed under an open licence (for example, Creative Commons), the terms of the licence accompanying each resource shall prevail, in accordance with the Open Science policy of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

9.3 Except for uses authorised under the applicable licence, the resources may not be reproduced, distributed or transformed without the owner’s authorisation.

10. Personal data protection

10.1 The processing of users’ personal data is governed by the Privacy Policy and the Platform’s Privacy Notice, to which these Terms refer.

11. Suspension and cancellation of accounts

11.1 The owner may suspend or cancel the account of any user who breaches these Terms or the law, or whose conduct is detrimental to other users, the service or third parties. Where reasonable, the user will be given prior notice and an opportunity to remedy the breach.

11.2 Users may request the cancellation of their account at any time. Cancellation does not affect the lawfulness of any processing or use carried out in accordance with these Terms prior to cancellation.

11.3 Any suspension or cancellation measures shall be proportionate to the seriousness of the breach.

12. Service availability and amendments

12.1 The owner endeavours to keep the Platform available but does not guarantee its uninterrupted availability and may carry out maintenance, updates or improvements.

12.2 The owner may modify, add or remove features of the Platform in view of its evolving academic and research nature.

13. Warranties and liability

13.1 The owner shall not be liable for interruptions, errors or failures resulting from circumstances beyond its reasonable control or from force majeure.

13.2 The owner shall not be liable for user-generated content, for which responsibility lies with those who create or publish it, without prejudice to the measures set out in Clause 11; nor shall the owner be liable for content on third-party websites that is linked to or embedded in the Platform.

13.3 The foregoing limitations are without prejudice to any liability that cannot be excluded by law or to the rights afforded to consumers and users.

14. Amendments of the terms

14.1 The owner may amend these Terms for regulatory or technical reasons or for reasons relating to the operation of the Platform. Any amendments shall take effect upon publication. Where the changes are substantial, users shall be informed through the available channels and, where applicable, shall be asked to accept the Terms again.

15. Applicable law and dispute resolution

15.1 These Terms shall be governed by Spanish law.

15.2 The owner and the user shall endeavour to resolve any dispute amicably. Users who qualify as consumers retain the rights afforded to them under Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007 of 16 November, including, where applicable, the right to have disputes heard by the courts with jurisdiction over their place of residence.

15.3 Given that the owner is a public-law entity, disputes concerning acts governed by administrative law shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent administrative courts.

16. Closing clause

16.1 These Terms constitute a standalone document, permanently accessible from the footer of all sections of the website.

16.2 Version 1.0. Date of preparation: 1 June 2026. Effective date: the date of publication on the website.
